Seattle Farms, Folk, and Family: A Night to Remember with Gregory Alan Isakov at Remlinger Farms

Farms, Folk, and Family: A Night to Remember with Gregory Alan Isakov at Remlinger Farms

Carnation, WA – September 7, 2025 — Some nights linger long after the last note fades. This past Saturday, September 6, under the open skies of Carnation, Washington, Grammy-nominated folk artist Gregory Alan Isakov performed at Remlinger Farms, presented by Seattle Theatre Group. It was more than just a concert—it was an evening where craft, community, and connection converged.

A Custom Hat, A Shared Story

For us at Hoyle Hat Co. / The Seattle Hat Shop, the night carried an added layer of meaning. In the weeks leading up to the show, we had the honor of designing a custom handmade hat for Gregory—a piece intended not as an accessory, but as a reflection of his life and artistry.

Every detail of the hat was chosen with purpose:

  • Starling-Inspired Pin – Honoring Starling Farm in Boulder County, Colorado, where Gregory grows heirloom vegetables year-round and runs a CSA program. His rootedness in land stewardship was woven directly into the design.

  • Green Trim – A quiet nod to growth, renewal, and the produce he nurtures when he’s not on stage.

  • Earth-Toned Felt with Handcrafted Imperfections – A reminder that true beauty lies in what is made by hand, not mass-produced.

“This wasn’t just a stage piece,” said Michael Patrick Hoyle, founder of Hoyle Hat Co. “It was a wearable poem—a story of soil, song, and the artistry that connects them both.”

The Music in the Fields

As the sun dipped below the horizon and the first notes of The Stable Song filled the air, the setting was pure magic. Families, friends, and folk fans alike sat on blankets, sipped local cider, and swayed under the dusky sky.

Gregory’s music, already steeped in imagery of land and longing, felt even more alive in this farm setting. Songs like If I Go, I’m Goin’ carried across the open fields with a resonance that made the performance feel less like a concert and more like a communal gathering.

And when Gregory appeared on stage wearing the custom hat, it became part of the narrative itself—a subtle but powerful bridge between his farming life in Colorado and his storytelling through music.

Why It Matters

This collaboration reminded us why we do what we do. At Hoyle Hat Co., every hat is a vessel for story and identity. Seeing Gregory wear one of our creations wasn’t simply about design—it was about honoring the shared values of craft, humility, and connection.

In a time when fast fashion dominates and artistry can be overlooked, moments like this remind us of the enduring importance of handmade work. Whether through a song grown in silence or a hat shaped by hand, meaning is what gives art its staying power.

Closing Reflection

The night at Remlinger Farms was about more than music—it was about belonging. About finding beauty in simplicity. About the way soil, sound, and story can come together to create something unforgettable.

Here’s to a night where music and meaning intertwined beneath the open sky, and where a handmade hat became part of the song.
